The result is a score from 0 to 100.

Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level

The companion metric converts the same formula to a US school grade level. A score of 8 means an 8th grader can understand your text.

Practical Tips

  • Short sentences improve readability more than any other single change.
  • Simple words with fewer syllables lower the difficulty score.
  • Aim for 60–70 for general blog audiences and 50–60 for professional writing.
